HSRC (Human Sciences Research Council)
In delivering ‘social science that makes a difference’ the Research Divisions, Units, Institutes and Centres of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) undertake policy-oriented research from its offices in Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, and Pietermaritzburg. Our public purpose mandate is set out in the Human Sciences Research Council Act of 2008.
The Inclusive Economic Development (IED) division undertakes research to transform educational outcomes and increase economic participation. It recognises that education and the economy have long been linked and conducts research to understand educational performance and improve learning outcomes and to interrogate wider social, spatial, and structural obstacles to economic participation.
IED requires the services of up to 16 graduate fieldworkers for fieldwork in two studies to be undertaken over a period of 5 months to be based in Durban and Pretoria. The work is a per-day assignment, on a short-term contract, and fieldworkers will only be paid for the days worked. The fieldwork scope will be between 10 days and 40 days over the duration of the contract. The successful fieldworkers should be fluent in any or several of the languages which are listed below.
